Birthday Weekend

Last weekend was chock-full of birthdays! Brianne's on the 3rd, our Nation's on the 4th, and Jen's on the 6th. We're getting all caked out over here. ;)

For Independence Day we did Absolutley Nothing in the morning. I cannot tell you when the last time that happened was. Before Noah was born, that's for sure! We just sat around and talked all morning! Then in the afternoon, we played games. What a life. :) Things got more interesting around dinner, though, when Jen's family that was in town joined us for dinner. We all enjoyed good old-fashioned hamburgers, hot dogs, fruit salad, baked beans, and corn on the cob topped off with cake and ice cream. After dinner most of the crew went to the beach to watch fireworks, but Josh, Noah and I stayed behind. I'm probably an old fogie, but in my opinion 9:30pm is too late to start fireworks with an almost-two-year-old on a night before we have to be at church the next morning. (They started at 9:30, which means you don't get home til after 10pm.) Josh set off some fireworks in our own backyard at a much more reasonable time of 8:30pm, so Noah was in bed before 9. :)

I'm not really sure what Matt and Jen did yesterday for Jen's birthday. I do know they went out to eat (a MUST on any lady's birthday! Note that, guys!). In the evening we all got together to pass out fliers for our first church service which will be July 26. Have I mentioned that yet on here?

OUR FIRST SUNDAY SERVICE AS TRUTH BAPTIST CHURCH WILL BE JULY 26, 2009!

There. That should do it. :) We're gearing up to start services at the new location less than a mile from our home (and about 1.5 miles from Matt and Jen's home), and there is much work to be done, including the distribution of thousands of door-hanger fliers. We're praying especially hard for the people we'll be ministering to.
