365 Project; week 16

I am enjoying having a working camera in my possession again!  After hemming and hawing over my options, and coming to grips with the fact that we couldn't spend the money on my "dream" camera, I settled on a Canon Powershot, which has been working out marvelously. Our other new purchase over the last couple of weeks was a hammock for our backyard, which has provided hours of pleasure, plenty of entertainment, and one black eye. Yep.  Didn't get a picture of Noah's shiner (it happened prior to the new camera), but here are the pics from the rest of this past week! :) Mr. Seth has begun the yellow vegetables.  Here he is chowing down some squash.  Loved. It. Noah out by the hammock Noah's latest craze: making funny faces.  He asked me to make a funny face so he could take a picture.  I think I can do better than that next time! :) We finished Gulliver's Travels (much to my relief!  That book was not one of my favorites.) and began Th

Honk-Shoo and other Childhoodisms

The other day, I held out a choice of 2 lollipops for Noah, and do you know what he said?  "Eenie, meenie, meinie, moe, catch a tiger by the toe..." I'll bet nine out of ten of you could finish that for me! I am astounded at the sameness of childhood.  I find that things I thought I made up might just be universal to all children.  I grew up in the North in the 1980's, and my 5-year-old of 2013 lives in Florida, yet when I catch Noah pretending one of his imaginary characters is asleep, he does the same "honk-shoo" sound I used to make to imitate snoring (which doesn't sound like actual snoring, by the way).   And I never taught him that . And how do children everywhere know the jump-rope chant, "Bubblegum, bubblegum in a dish; how many pieces do you wish? 1, 2, 3..." or "Cinderella, dressed in yella went upstairs to kiss her fella.  By mistake she kissed a snake; how many doctors will it take? 1, 2, 3... "  I don't know,

Tell Me What You Really Think

This is Seth, in one of our attempts at feeding him rice cereal.  What do you think, Seth? I think the mini gag at the end might give it away. :)

365 Project; week 13

We have finally this week warmed up into what I think will be Spring (I hope)!  We had a week off of school for Spring Break, celebrated our living Savior, rested somewhat from our normal routine, and had overall a wonderful week, with the exception of my camera deciding now would be a good time to quit working. :(  I will share the photos I have that were taken last Tuesday through Friday, but the rest you'll have to use your imagination for.  This week I need to find a new camera!! If you "fold" Seth over enough, he can almost sit on his own!  We discovered K'nex this week!  Noah had gotten a couple of K'nex sets for Christmas, but we just now decided to see what they were all about.  He loves them! And this just shows that not every moment in our house is a rosy, well-behaved, angelic moment.  It was almost supper time and the K'nex were getting the better of Noah's fine motor skills.  This was a whiney, life's-not-fair, "call t
