365 Project; week 12

I'm feeling pretty redundant that I keep saying, "This week was a pretty normal week" and then proceed to show you photos of the "same song, second verse" if you know what I mean.  That said, I am so thankful that most of our weeks roll pretty much the same way, and so full of the Lord's blessings.  I just hope those of you out there who read this don't get tired of all the sameness from week to week. Soccer practice!  What crazy weather we're having, though, I must say.  Last week was freezing, then I see this photo, taken on a beautiful evening with temps in the 70's, and as I type this today, it's back down in the 50's again.  I had Brianne, Titus, and Libby over one morning.  After a morning of playing hard, they vegged out for a bit watching a movie while I made lunch. Kindergarten art!  LOVE it!  Can you tell what it is? Look closely, and you'll see it says "Car Insurance"  Well, actually, it says, "

Four Months Old Already!

I cannot. Believe. Seth is 4 months old!  This seems to be going way faster than Noah's first year, for whatever reason.  We went this morning for Seth's well-baby checkup, and praise the Lord, he's very healthy!  He weighs 18 lbs on the nose, and is 26 and 3/4" long, which is the 95th percentile for height and weight.  Since he still wants to eat every 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours, and doesn't yet make it completely through the night without eating, the doctor recommended we start rice cereal earlier rather than later--it might give me a break from nursing so frequently.  Maybe sometime this weekend we will attempt cereal on a spoon!

I'll be honest: this week was r-o-u-g-h photo-wise.  I simply did not care to take photos.  Needed a break, I guess. Here's what I did get: Brrr!!  We had a cold snap, which made soccer-practice-watching a little on the uncomfortable side On our way to St. Augustine for a church picnic.  The three "boys" rode in the back; a rare treat for them! Playtime at the picnic A few of our church family enjoying the picnic.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous for this, thankfully! Mr. Seth in tummy time Seth, on his 4 month "birthday", March 19.  I wish he'd cheer up once in a while! *wink* :) Once more, I am thankful for the Lord's blessings, which abound to me every day!  "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits" Psalm 68:19

Wiggle Worm

I have a feeling Seth and Noah are going to have a lot in common; namely a tendency to be On The Move At All Times.  Lay Seth down on the floor, or hold him facing out, and this is what he does: One of these days he may take flight! :)

365 Project; week 10

Week 10 in my project!  I'm thankful for another week of the Lord's blessings and mercies in our family.  Here are the highlights: Grammy came to Noah's kindergarten class and read a story to them, something that I don't know if I would attempt.  Oh, I love reading.  I even love reading to children.  But that many of them at once with all their interruptions and wiggles... I just don't know.  Give me a couple of them next to me on the couch, and that's more my speed. :) We found a painting for over our mantel!  And it only took 3 years!  Mommy and Seth time, chilling on the floor. I found Noah outside "bane-ing" (his pronunciation of "bang" has always sounded like "bane") his hammer, blacksmith-style on some sticks, trying to hone them into sharper tools.  Boys. Noah's 1st soccer game of the season! Go Thunder! (they did win) Seth and Luke (Matt and Jen's newest addition) becoming buds in t

The Joy of Reading

This past week was Read Across America Week at Noah's school, supposedly with an emphasis on reading.  The kids even celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by dressing up according to different themes for each day.  And on Friday, Noah came home and said they had watched The Cat In The Hat movie. Wait. A movie?  For the week emphasizing the importance of reading?  The week in which you're supposed to be singing the praises of the written word and inculcating the love of books in a child's life?   They watched a movie and didn't read the book?   I wanted to cry.    So during Seth's next feeding, Noah and I curled up on the couch and read.   Books . With actual words .  I had Noah read to me for a little while, and I took a video of him.  Here is Noah reading Hot Fudge Hero , by Pat Brisson, a new book to him, and one we both thoroughly enjoyed.  I love to read, and I hope both of my children will too.

365 Project; week 9

We had the privilege of attending a Bob Jones University Friendship Dinner on Tuesday night.  What a sweet time of fellowship that was with alumni and prospective students!  We sat with a few people from our church and enjoyed the delicious pork tenderloin they served.  This is Bob (from our church) holding Seth.  I would have liked to also get a photo of Dr. Bob (Jones), but Seth needed to eat just about the time he got up to speak, so that wasn't to be. What's so significant about 7:17?  Well, that was 7:17a.m. and for 3 glorious mornings, it was the first time I'd been awake since Seth's final feeding at 11pm the night before.  Sleep, glorious sleep.  Unfortunately, it was a 3-day wonder, because he has reverted back to awaking at 5am for a feeding.  Sigh.  It was nice while it lasted! Seth is really starting to be interested in things around him, and loving mirrors (don't we all?).  This is Seth talking to his reflection in the lion mirror.
