365 Project: week 8

Image
Thanks for stopping in!  Here's a glimpse into some of the events of this week: I bought a new bumper for Seth's crib and put it up.  It has pictures of vehicles (planes, trucks, helicopters, etc) on it.  That first nap with the new bumper, I heard Seth in there just "talking" away.  When I went in, he was talking to the bumper and smiling.  Notice also the spit-up near that hand on the left--I had already moved him once.  So goes our life these days. :)   We've had some nice warm weather this week, making time in the stream behind our house a must!  This is the stream at low tide, and Noah about to jump in. We all sat out there to watch Noah in the water. What trip to Cracker Barrel would be complete without a game of checkers?  Josh won. Candlelight breakfast!  We woke up one morning to thunderstorms, and our power promptly went out.  Note that there are two times when it's Really Bad to lose power: when you're about to make

Spit-Up

*Warning: this post contains graphic photos of actual spit-up events.  Proceed with caution.* I used to think Noah was bad about spitting up, and then I had Seth.  Poor guy.  All day long, and even in the night this guy is a fountain of nastiness.  This is how I found Seth when he woke up this morning: And his bed didn't look much better! This has become normal for us.  I usually have to change his sheets 3 times a day, and move him out of piles of spit-up 3 or 4 times before he finally settles down for each nap.  Not to mention the plethora of burp cloths, bibs, and changes of clothes (his and mine!) we go through on a daily basis. In an effort to stop the madness, I have tried: *keeping Seth upright for at least 30 minutes after feeding *burping him at least twice during every feeding *limiting how long he nurses (20 mins is our max) *Zantac, an acid-reflux medication.  The jury is still out on this one, since the nasty taste of the medicine cancels out the bene

Boys And Girls

I continue to be fascinated with the differences between boys and girls, which has been hard-wired into us by God Himself.  I love that He has created us distinctly different, and that we can see it at a very early age. Noah:  (speaking of what he'd like to play) "Let's go hunting!" cousin Brianne:  (content to continue with her sidewalk chalk drawings) "I'll just pray for your safety." I don't make this stuff up!!

Well, I knew a week like this would come eventually; a week where I totally muffed it with taking pictures.  What do you do?  You post the ones you have, make a mental note to step it up, and move on. :) Thanks to a friend's inspiration (thanks, Jenny!), I began writing napkin notes in the guys' lunches each morning.   Valentine's Day!  I decided to make...wait for it....heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast.  Thought I was the most. creative. mom. ever.  Until I saw 2 or 3 of my friends did the same thing!  Turns out I'm not the first one to dream up such a treat. :)  Here is Noah with the pop-up Snoopy card I got for him. Me and my sock monkey Josh and Noah tearing out and replacing the back door to our garage. Didn't get a photo of the finished product yet. Jen had a baby!  And here is where I majorly dropped the ball.   This is the only picture I got.   Really.  You'd think I could get one of, say, Jen holding her new son, Luke.  O

365 Project; week 6

I've been doing this 365 Project for about a month now, and so far I love it!  What better way to remember life than to take at least one photo every day?  I miss a day now and then, but other days I more than make up for it.  So here you go: week 6! Sometimes you just gotta!  After almost 3 months of trying in vain to squeeze myself into my regular clothes, I'd had enough.  I am now within 2 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight, but things got redistributed somehow, and my jeans were rebelling.  Buttoning them was out of the question, so I did what any normal woman would do...I went shopping!  I hit a consignment store one morning and walked out an hour later with these finds.  Every single item fits, and I love each and every one.  Way to perk up a girl who's feeling frumpy! :) I love that living in Florida means we can play outside all winter long! Mt. Washmore.  I used to have a great routine; Monday was Laundry Day.  Enter Seth.  Now it seems Every Day is Lau

365 Project; week 5

This week was mostly spent in Pennsylvania with my mom and sister Lori.  Wish I had taken more pictures, and so so glad I was able to go!  The week felt like a vacation, since I was able to sleep in til almost 8am most of the mornings, with no morning hustle and bustle trying to get people out the door.  It was also a blessing to spend time with my mom, sister, sister-in-law, and niece while I was there.  Sweet times!  The day I arrived, there was snow on the ground!  I haven't seen that in years. Mom absolutely loved to hold Seth.  That first night he had a bad case of gas, which made him wake up screaming.  She soothed him back to sleep. A visit from my niece Rachel was a pleasant surprise. My sister-in-law Cheryl was there too.  I"m so glad I got to see them both! I'm the aunt, she's the niece, but we've been friends since childhood. My sister Lori enjoyed bathing Seth a couple of the nights we were there. Blurry photo, but
