Inauguration Day

This is the first year in the history of Inaugurations that I have been able to watch it on TV. Well, let's use the word "watch" loosely here, because today I was fixing lunch, eating lunch, and trying to entertain Noah while it was going on.

I was surprised that they inaugurated the Vice President before the President--I would have thought it would be the other way around!

My only other thought about this monumental occasion is that we should all pray as we never have before for Barack Obama. He's not who I would have chosen for this job, but he's the one who got it, and the Bible tells us we are to pray for those in authority over us. Pastor Masitto keeps pointing out that if a guy like Nebuchadnezzar (from the book of Daniel) could be saved, so could this man if it would be the Lord's will. We can certainly cover the government with our prayers, and trust that "the heart of the king is in the Lord's hand".

Here's some encouraging news regarding the President - although it doesn't seem to jive with some of his political views such as regarding abortion, the church he says will be the one he goes to while in office (and he went to it this past Sunday) is a conservative, evangelical, Bible believing church. It's a large church (contemporary style of worship). The senior pastor is caucasian although most of the members are not. The senior pastor met with Obama privately prior to Obama announcing his candidacy for President and of course only God knows the heart, but he felt that Obama's testimony of salvation (when, where, and why) was solid. So hopefully he will look to the Lord for guidance during his time in office. My parents got this information because one of the pastors who serves at the same church where my Dad is pastor used to be at the church where Obama is going now.
