Seth Turned Six!

Seth, my under-the-radar child. Bless him, I often wonder what it is like for someone with his personality to be sandwiched between two siblings who so frequently steal the show. Just this morning on the way to the zoo, Eden was singing the A-B-C song at the top of her lungs (A B C D ah, ah, G! H I J K emeneno P!). Seth, poor guy, was trying to say something, but couldn't hold his train of thought long enough to get it out. And when it's not Eden singing, it's Noah editorializing.  And exhibit B is that I almost forgot to post about him for his birthday! Yesterday was Thanksgiving, but a few days ago (on Monday), our Seth turned six! Here's what we know about him:

1. Seth is the feeler of our family. He is very aware of how things make people feel. He is also the most tender-hearted of our three kids.

2. He is unusually perceptive (this might go along with the first item above), and can shock us with his insight. Of course at the moment, I can't come up with an example. Hmm.

3.  Seth is ahead of the game as far as large motor skills; he's been riding a two wheeled bike since he was just shy of 3 years old, he has been able to man a kayak since he was four, he learned to swim at 3 years old, and can run fast.  However, his fine motor skills and ability to focus enough to learn to read are more of a challenge for him. He's still not sure of the sounds of all the letters in the alphabet. We'll keep working on it though!

4.  Seth's favorite food is MEAT! Steak and chicken-with-the-skin-on are two of his favorites. Smoked barbecue also ranks high. He is also my only child who will eat raw carrots or celery.

5.  He is (in my opinion) a very gifted artist! I love the way he colors.

6.  He still struggles with the way clothing feels. He currently has about 2 pairs of shorts that he cycles through, and 4-5 shirts that he will wear. He cries if you try to make him wear pants or a long-sleeve shirt.

7.  For his birthday, he received a lava lamp, gum, some gemstones, a nerf gun, $5, and a toy helicopter. He's already talking about his next birthday!
